FAIRFIELD, CT, June 24, 2011 – Fairfield Theatre Company’s Third Annual Golf Tournament, Held on Monday, June 13th, Best Attended and Most Money Raised
128 golfers showed up on a beautiful 70 degree day to play 18 holes of golf and support Fairfield Theatre Company’s growth as the region’s premier performing arts organization. A strong team of FTC board members, past and present, volunteers and FTC staffers put on a non-stop day of great golf, food, laughs and music at the newly renovated Patterson Club.
FTC Board President Brad Purcell and Development Director Brinda Pola led an active committee of volunteers including Jamie Orvis, Bitsy Higgins and Georgiana Platt of Westport and Glen Grella and Jeff Babushkin of Fairfield.
The successful event raised over $50,000 net proceeds. Sponsors who helped make the event a huge success included Gold Sponsor TD Bank, Silver Sponsor Goodnow Investment Group LLC , Cocktail Sponsor Security Solutions Inc. and Hole-in-One Sponsor BMW of Bridgeport. Proceeds will help support FTC programming, community initiatives and educational programs.
“Our annual golf outing was sold out, we actually had to turn a few people away. We were lucky to get perfect weather and a happy and generous crowd,” said Brad Purcell. “From the first-class golf course to the great music by Jay Stollman and Beth Iovinelli, to the hilarious auctioneer Bill Brennan, the night was a hit. We’ve been hearing from golfers who said it was the best tournament they’ve been to.”
Competition on the course was fierce but fun – a shot gun start opened the tournament and Best Ball and First Ball format followed. Special contests included a Close to the Whole contest, Long Drive Hole contest and prizes for lowest score.
“It was a great day for golf and I look forward to playing again next year. I was pleased to have the opportunity to participate and support FTC. I have been to fantastic shows at StageOne and The Klein many times. I encourage everyone to support FTC,” said golfer Russ Mitchell, Co-President of Mitchells Family of Stores.
FTC’s live auction was a key component of the fundraiser. Generous FTC supporters provided exciting auction items such as luxury homes in Park City, Utah and Turks and Caicos. In addition tickets for a Yankees vs. Red Sox game, John Mayer concert tickets with a meet and greet, a FTC Season Passport to any and all shows for two, and golf outings at the prestigious golf courses Bulls Bridge in Litchfield and the National Golf Links in Southampton also helped raise substantial money.
Next year’s tournament is already scheduled for June 11, 2012.
