FTC StageOne Hosts Folk Icon Judy Collins, Thurs. May 19th

Press Release Date:
2011-05-09

Fairfield Theatre Company Announces a Night with Folk Legend Judy Collins. Judy Collins, in her first Fairfield appearance, comes to StageOne for a spring “friendraiser” to support FTC’s operations and programming. Collins is the consummate artist, folk icon, activist and singer, known for her clear, piercing voice and classic hits “Turn, Turn, Turn”, “Both Sides Now” and “Send in the Clowns” for which Collins won “Song of the Year” at the 1975 Grammy Awards. The New York Times describes her voice as “a pure vibratoless soprano with an angelic, church-like ring.” At age 71 Collins still brings her dynamic energy and talent to her performing. She is still touring to crowds of thousands at music festivals around the world, as well as recording albums – over 27 to date, and running her own label, Wildflower Record. Collins’ career is a walk through folk music history, from interpreting Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell, to writing her own material and covering hits from country to rock to Broadway.

FTC will be serving heavy hors d’oeuvres and cocktails at 6:30 PM before the show to all ticketholders. Special tickets at $175 include a meet and greet champagne and desert reception with Judy Collins after the show. For tickets or inquiries, please call, or visit www.fairfieldtheatre.org or the FTC box office, 203-259-1036, open seven days a week, 12-5 and late on show nights. An evening with Judy Collins is brought to FTC with support from Fairfield residents Alan and Sylvie Neigher. This press release can be downloaded from www.fairfieldtheatre.org
