A night of island music, brought to you by two of the hottest new singer/songwriters to come out of Bermuda and Hawaii, respectively: Mishka and Anuhea. Each with the own summery brand of reggae, folk rock and pop melodies, this is a night like no other for StageOne. Should we order sand and umbrellas? Anuhea Born Rylee Anuheake'alaokalokelani Jenkins, the sassy and upbeat pop folk singer from Hawaii has been turning head ever since releasing her first self-titled album in 2009. From there, she sat cozy on the top of Billboard, iTunes and Reggae charts and enjoyed touring the world with her funky R&B, infectious pop and soulful island grooves. "I'm influenced highly by R&B and Soul, Hip Hop and Funk,” Anuhea says. “But my instrument is acoustic guitar. I tend to write most of my songs during the craziest parts of my life. I'll write pages and pages in my notebook in no order then go back with my guitar in my hands and sing the words as lyrics to some chords. That's how most songs start for me." In April 2010 Anuhea performed alongside Jack Johnson, Ziggy Marley & Taj Mahal at the sold out Kokua Festival at the Waikiki Shell. She went on to win 2 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards for Contemporary Album of the Year and Most Promising Artist, making her Hawaii's #1 female artist. Her latest album, For Love, was released on Valentine’s Day this year and has been called, “A mix of poppy reggae tunes and smooth, intimate grooves,” by Maui Time Mishka A child of the islands, it was almost inevitable that Mishka would be drawn to reggae, Rastafari, and the natural mystic that inhabits his music and soul. His music carries a unique vibe, not unlike a combination of Peter Tosh, Jimmy Buffet, Bob Dylan and The Police mixed with real roots reggae acts like Culture, Marley and Burning Spear. He began with a career in windsurfing, representing Bermuda and gradually made the full switch to creating soulful, folk- and rock-influenced reggae music. With an enormous following in the UK and Japan, he has a tight-knit and fast-expanding fan base in the States. Mishka is also the face of O’Neill’s new line of eco-friendly surf clothing and he embodies the summery spirit of reggae, something he embraces in every part of his life. If you want to know how deeply sincere this internally known reggae artist goes, just ask his new boss. That’s right, after Mishka recorded his third album in ‘05, Above the Bones, he connected with the one and only Matthew McConaughey over a shared appreciation for reggae and was welcomed onto his record label, j.k. livin. McConaughey says, “It’s conscious reggae that reminds me to bless up, keep a high eye, work hard, love hard, remember true, hope faithfully, give thanks and just keep livin.” "When I heard Mishka sing for the first time, I had to look behind the curtain to see if someone else was doing it, because I couldn't believe his authenticity and tone. He is a true artist. There’s not a pretentious bone in his body, which is a rarity in this business." - Butch Walker, Producer Concert Tickets $25
