Oct. 22nd, Caravan of Thieves Bring their Brilliant Acoustic Circus to FTC StageOne

Press Release Date:
2011-10-10

Fuzz and Carrie San Giovanni, who founded and lead the Bridgeport-based Caravan of Thieves, are life-long performers who can't stop writing tricky little masterpieces for their band of traveling circus rascals.  Add to that the wailing violin ticklings of Ben Dean and the sturdy backbone of Brian Anderson's double bass, and you’ve got one of the area’s most theatrical, unique and successful world-touring bands. They're not bluegrass. They're not alt-country. They're not just gypsy jazz. They're all of that — with some John, Paul, George and Freddie Mercury thrown in.

For this round of shows and to cover costs to produce their new album The Funhouse, the band used the new company Kickstarter.com, a charity,project-building website to help them raise funds online. Having reached their fundraising goal with help from friends and fans, they quickly got started independently recording and spreading news about the new album, a process that includes filming a new music video and sending specialized prizes to everyone who helped out.
The Funhouse has lots of new songs, a sneak peek at the forthcoming -- and appropriately haunted -- album, and several surprises.

There’s a sense that everyone who lent a hand is now a part of the band, building camaraderie and support in a sincere and rewarding way. And if you know them, or have ever seen them perform, this should come as no surprise -- it is what the Caravan of Thieves is all about.

Come out and welcome our hometown Gypsy heroes back to StageOne for their CD release party.
