Just in time for Father's day, FTC proudly presents an evening of photography, stories, and a book signing with music producer, manager, and Rock Hall of Fame exhibited photographer, Michael Friedman. Friedman's lost negatives of legendary 60's & 70's musicians were recently discovered after being lost for 50 years. The evening celebrates the launch of Friedman's new book exposed featuring behind-the-scenes stories and never-before-published photographs of Janis Joplin, The Band, Todd Rundgren, Kris Kristofferson, The Rolling Stones and other music legends.

A Fairfield native, Michael Friedman didn’t set out to be an acclaimed rock ’n' roll photographer. Back in the early ‘60s he was a young man trying to make it as a publicist/manager in New York and Woodstock, working with up-and-coming rock, folk, and pop artists who became friends. He was also an avid photographer documenting his experience working with musicians who turned out to become legends - performing, rehearsing, just being themselves. Friedman took thousands of photos capturing the essence of that historic period, but lost track of the negatives before he had a chance to print them. Nearly 50 years later his wife, Donna Vita, found the treasure trove of negatives and began the Lost Negatives Project, restoring and exhibiting this extraordinary collection at museums and galleries. Now memorialized in Friedman and Vita's new book, EXPOSED: The Lost Negatives and Untold Stories of Michael Friedman features over 100 more never-before-seen photos of music history.

After a cocktail reception and photo exhibit, WPKN’s Steve di Costanzo will moderate a presentation and discussion with Michael about his life and times with music legends who would define the Woodstock era. Followed by a book signing and opportunity to purchase prints, the Perfect Father’s Day gifts for your music-loving Dad (or husband!).
